We had a successful back to school drive and were able to collect a huge amount of school supplies for children at the Project Linus school in Canton. Thank you to everyone who spread the word and helped to make this year's back to school drive a success for all of the students who were in need of school supplies for the upcoming school year!
On December 22nd, 2017 Yuva Bharathi held their last meeting of the year. In this meeting, they elected the new executive board for 2018 and looked back at some of the cultural events and fundraisers they organized this year. Looking back into 2017, Yuva Bharathi raised more money than they did last year. Their goals for the upcoming year is to expand their club with more members and to organize more fundraising events.
Our first cultural event of the year is coming up on April 23rd. Contact YB Board members to sign up for a committee to work on that night. You can also help by spreading the word to your friends and family about this event and making announcements at the temple.
On Friday, we made cards for veterans in the Armed Forces. These cards included uplifting messages, beautiful drawings, or cringe-worthy puns. Next month we will be hosting the Canton Police Department. Please bring your friends for the activity on Friday, March 10. Also, planning for the April Cultural Event is starting, so help Yuva Bharathi by recruiting more members so we can put on a great show.
Today was our first meeting of the 2017 year. It was the first date that application forms could be turned in. However, applications can be turned in throughout the year.
In this meeting, we proceeded to make blankets for the children in need, and we had a speaker from the organization talk about what they do and other information about that. Read more about this in our past events page
In this meeting the Yuva Bharathi board met with the Temple board and some other members to discuss the rules and regualtions/logistics of the temple fun fair. The YB board then relayed the information down to the individual YB members, and assigned roles for different people. We worked hard this meeting to ensure success at the YB and Temple's first annual Fun Fair.
This was an important meeting as we had an eye-opening presentation that was given to us by the Bhutan Refugees of Grand Rapids. We planned the possibility of us helping them in ways like tutoring and other helpful things. We also planned the fun fair and members learned how to make crafts that would be sold at the fair.
This meeting was just set up to ensure that the upcoming cultural program would run smooth. We looked over the roles of all of our members and what they individually needed to do. We went over the game plan of the technology, logistics, and food teams.
We had a great turnout of people for this meeting. We were able to make a lot of cards and were able to talk about some of our future programs like the one being held on May 15th
If you ever miss a meeting please refer to this page for some information about what we did at the meeting
